Business Leads
 |
Often you will refer to these leads as: work at home opportunity leads; MLM leads; sales leads; and business leads. Regardless of their name, the leads typically contain contact information (first name, last name, email address, phone number, address, etc.). They can also contain additional information such as: How soon will you begin a home based business? Or How many hours are you willing to invest in a home based business. |

Whether you buy leads or generate them yourself you will get some sort of information about the person you are contacting. Sometimes you will be getting some answers they have filled out on a surveyed form. Here are some tips on how to read your lead’s information. Jennifer,Smith,jenny@ jesusanswers.com,123 Sesame Street,New York,NY,6123, 212-111-2222,1/20/2005,15:10:39,205.188.116.13 - Obviously we have information like first name, last name, email, address, telephone number, data and time opted in as well as their ip address for their computer.
- If this is a member lead then we call her by her "Ms. Smith", Mamn, or maybe Jennifer. We do not call her Jenny if she is a member lead.
- If she is a broker lead we call her Jenny. Her email address told us that this is her nick-name.
- We know she’s religious. Don’t try to call her Sunday morning. She’s probably in church. Always be mindful of the calendar. It’s nice having your own home-based business because you never have to work on a holiday. If her name had been "Baruch Levinson" and you can probably guess that this is a Jewish person, then don’t call on Shabbat (Friday night – Saturday night). Knowing that Jenny above is religious we can even tell her when leaving a voice mail, "Have a blessed day" instead of, "Have a good day." She’s obviously religious and won’t take offence to this as long as you are sincere.
- Her address is in NY. But look at the zip code. It is only 4 digits long. Many times lead generation sites will omit the first digit if it is a zero. Jenny’s full zip code is probably 06123. The way zip codes work is in ascending order going from the east coast to the west coast. Eastern states will begin with a 0 or a 1 and states such as California and Hawaii begin with a 9 or 8. This is not true of prefixes for telephone numbers.
- We have her telephone number. Some states are split in their time zones. Always look up the time zone that a lead lives in to make sure you call them between 9am-9pm their time. Calling earlier or later is rude. Some places do not go into daylight savings time so be careful of that. Always assume that they are an hour earlier in the morning and an hour later in the evening if you are not sure. Prefixes are not like zip codes. The prefixes of 808 and 810 are Hawaii and Michigan respectfully. They are only 2 numbers apart in their prefix but Hawaii is PST-2 hours and Michigan is on EST. There is a 5 hour difference in their times.
- Jenny filled out this survey at 3pm in the afternoon. This may be a good time to reach her. Even if the lead source did not supply you with a time preference (e.g. please call morning/afternoon/evening) you still know when she was online filling out this survey. She may be a stay-at-home mother and every day at 3pm her baby is napping. Calling her at 11am may not catch her at a good time. If you can, try calling her at the same time she filled out the survey.
Rurh,Smith,ruthsmith1967@ yahoo.com,123 Sesame Street,New York,NY,6123, 212-111-2222,1/20/2005,15:10:39,205.188.116.13 - This lead has the first name of "Rurh." Or does it? The email address says "ruthsmith1967." Chances are very likely that Ruth did a typo when she filled out the form.
- The email address has "1967" in it. This is probably her birth year. This gives you a general idea maybe of her age. She’s probably in her mid 30s and may be a mother. If the email address had "1985" instead you’re probably talking to a 20 year old who may or may not be a mother.
Tony,Smith,big_tony@ us.army.mil,123 Sesame Street,New York,NY,6123, 212-111-2222,1/20/2005,15:10:39,205.188.116.13 - Looks like Tony is in the military. Military families have benefits provided. However, you can always stress to them that this business is theirs and that no matter where they are stationed for duty that this business will follow them. For example, if they are now in NY and are being transferred to Nebraska then their business just follows them. They don’t sell products so they won’t be loosing any repeat customers (i.e. if Tony sold Mary Kay and had 10 ladies who were repeat customers and he moved away, chances are those ladies will find another local Mary Kay distributor once Tony is gone. This is not the case with Ameriplan).
- In the case that Tony is stationed oversees he can still do this business because of the internet. However, calling people may be troublesome because of expense and time zone changes. You can stress to Tony that since there are no quotas to meet that if he is stationed in Germany for 2 years then he can just take a 2 year break in the business and it will be just fine.
- Sometimes military men looking for work like this are really looking for something for their wives, so don’t be scared away.
Emily,Smith,mommyof2@ aol.com,123 Sesame Street,New York,NY,6123, 212-111-2222,1/20/2005,15:10:39,205.188.116.13 Emily,Smith, jake1998diane2000@ aol.com,123 Sesame Street,New York,NY,6123, 212-111-2222,1/20/2005,15:10:39,205.188.116.13 - Looks like Emily has two children. That’s what both of these emails are indicating.
- It’s okay to start the conversation off by saying, "Emily I received your name was referred to me by a mother’s website." She’s a mother.
Carol,Smith, tomncarol1995@ aol.com,123 Sesame Street,New York,NY,6123, 212-111-2222,1/20/2005,15:10:39,205.188.116.13 - Carol is probably married to a man named Tom.
- They probably got married in 1995.
Minimah,Elinaghua, kar4bin@ aol.com,123 Sesame Street,New York,NY,6123, 212-111-2222,1/20/2005,15:10:39,205.188.116.13 - This name is very hard to pronounce. Ask your husband or on a message board how people would pronounce it.
If you have to guess at the name that is okay. "Hi, is Min-a-mah there? …. Hi Min-a-mah this is XXXX from Ameriplan. I’m sorry. Am I pronouncing your name correctly? …. Oh, I’m sorry. Min-eye-mah. That’s a beautiful name." It’s always best to just get it over with quickly and move on. She’s probably used to people butchering the pronunciation of her name.
